Welcome

The International Paramedic Registry collaborates with local, state, national and  international stakeholders to:

• Develop and review model standards for the knowledge, skills, and attributes necessary to the practice of paramedicine (prehospital care).
• Identify candidate eligibility.
• Develop and maintain certification exams to verify initial competency of prehospital providers.
• Develop and maintain standards for continued competency.
• Assist the development of the profession.
• Maintain a registry of certified prehospital providers.

The International Paramedic Registry does NOT play an active role in the following:

• Evaluate job performance.
• Establish scope of practice.
• Punish or investigate malpractice.
• License providers or authorize practice.

A candidate who is fully authorized must purchase access to the exam with an authorized vendor and/or the exam site itself. Purchase details are determined by the Exam Site.

The access costs for the IPR cognitive exam are as follows:

• Advanced Provider access: US$90.00
• Basic Provider access: US$52.00
• First responder access: US$35.00

IMPORTANT: IPR is not responsible for any increase in administrative/operational costs determined by the exam sites.

IPR certified providers must renew their certification every 2 years. To apply for recertification providers need:

a. Demonstrate competence through participation in continuing education or retake the exam.

b. Complete the online form, and pay the fee.

• Providers wishing to begin recertification may do so 180 calendar days before the expiration date and a maximum of 6 months after expiration.
• Providers with expired IPR certification: Providers must complete the recertification process at most 6 months after expiration.
