All IPR Candidates must create and maintain an IPR Account with accurate profile information throughout their certification. Exam appointments are not made at the time of registration, but are scheduled after you have applied for and paid for the exam.

It is strongly recommended that candidates download a copy of the Candidate Handbook before registering. Our cancellation policy is available there.

FOR PROGRAMS WISHING TO PURCHASE MULTIPLE REMOTE EXAM ACCESS:

To register and pay for multiple exams (e.g. 15 basic remote exam access), you will receive a candidate spreadsheet that needs to be completed and returned to kviteri@iprcert.org and you must purchase the exams in the IPR store (link). After payment is received for the exams, each candidate on the spreadsheet will then receive an email with instructions for the exam.

IMPORTANT: There is a $100 fee for changing the certification level or the exam delivery method from Remote Exam at home to Computer-Based Testing (CBT). The purchase of access for remote exams is valid for one attempt only.

What is a Remote At-Home Exam?
It’s a new way to take your cognitive exam in a secure and controlled environment. This option allows you to get certified with the same validity and recognition as always—without the need to travel.
1. Accessibility – Take your exam from anywhere in the world.
2. Security – Complete your exam while meeting high security and monitoring standards.
3. Flexibility – Once your payment is processed, we’ll coordinate with you to schedule the date and time that best fits your availability.

What happens after I register?
Once a candidate submits their request for a remote exam, they must:
1. Wait for certification level approval .
2. The candidate must purchase their exam access.
3. Complete the payment for exam access.
4. Schedule your remote exam at-home appointment through Calendly.

What Should I Consider Before a Remote Exam?
The candidate must:
1. Perform an internet speed test (minimum recommended: 10 Mbps upload and download).
2. Ensure their webcam, microphone, and speakers are working properly.
3. Use a compatible browser and grant access permissions for the camera and microphone.
4. Log in at least 15 minutes before the scheduled exam time.

Will I know my exact score?
  • Cognitive exam: No. The IPR cognitive examination is a criterion referenced examination and has a predetermined cut score or a pass/fail point. Exam results will be shared individually with each candidate on the day of the exam.
Does the IPR offer a course to prepare me for the exam?

No. The IPR offers valid exams, and therefore cannot conduct or endorse any exam preparation course.

How do I know what material is covered in the exams?

Download the Candidate Handbook and review the Content Outline, also known as the “Blueprint.” The Candidate Handbook is available on this website here.

How often is the exam updated?
IPR exams are constantly updated with new questions and content. All exam forms follow a standardized test development process.

Are current American Heart Association standards used in the exam?

Yes. Candidates are expected to maintain significant knowledge of current ACLS, PALS, NRP, and ITLS/PHTLS standards.

If I fail the exam, how many times can I retake it?

A candidate may attempt the same exam up to three (3) times. For more information, refer to the Candidate Handbook and the Retake Policy here.
