This option consists of an approved course, previously authorized by IPR and delivered by a Registered Training Center, for candidates who do not meet the mandatory requirements of Option A*.
For example, an IPR-B must complete a minimum of 36 training hours every two years. Therefore, the refresher course cannot have fewer hours in its academic plan or curriculum.
Option B is only available to candidates who are actively working in prehospital care and emergency medical services, emergency rooms, or serve as an instructor/professor at an authorized training center. *Employer registered with IPR.
Option D: retake the exam
In this option, the provider retakes the cognitive exam and/or the practical endorsement.
VERIFICATION OF SUBMITTED DOCUMENTS
The International Paramedic Registry reserves the right to audit and verifies the veracity of the documents submitted, and to request, if required, additional documentation in case of discrepancy.
- The submission, under knowledge, of false information is considered unethical and results in the immediate revocation of the certification.
- Submission of incomplete or late documentation after 16 calendar days (including weekends) results in the immediate revocation of certification.
- It is the responsibility of the registered provider to ensure that continuing education is truthful and legal, attesting to the accuracy of hours and competencies submitted.
- Lying, cheating, or falsifying studies and/or exams is considered unethical and will result in the immediate revocation of certification.
For example, if the provider claims four hours, they are responsible for providing accurate and verifiable documentation to support this statement.
RECERTIFICATION PERIOD
IPR certified providers must re-certify every two years from the initial or recertification date.
RECERTIFICATION SCHEDULE
With valid certification.
- It must be completed 2 to 4 months before the expiration date.
With expired certification:
- A 30-day grace period is granted after the expiration date. If the candidate does not apply for recertification within this timeframe, they must retake the exam.
