INTRODUCTION
IPR certified providers must renew their certification every 2 years. To apply for recertification providers need demonstrate their continued competence by completing the online form paying the recertification fee completing continuing education courses or – retaking the exam.
RECERTIFICATION BY CONTINUED EDUCATION
IPR has pre-authorized currently valid certification received by successfully completing approved courses that are provided by officially approved training centers affiliated with NAEMT, ECSI, AHA, and CAPCE. IPR training centers may also submit courses for official approval, and will be evaluated on a case by case basis. The following can not be applied as continued education for recertification:
- Paid or volunteer work, or service hours, for any organization or medical center. – Clinical rotations that are not part of initial EMS courses.
- Instructor (pedagogy) courses or instructor continuing education.
- Service as an IPR skills examinator.

CERTIFICATION PERIOD
IPR recertified providers must re-certify every two years from the initial or recertification date.
RECERTIFICATION SCHEDULE
- Currently certified providers: Providers wishing to begin recertification may do so 180 calendar days before the expiration date and a maximum of 6 months after expiration.
- Providers with expired IPR certification: Providers must complete the recertification process at most 6 months after expiration.

RECERTIFICATION OPTIONS
Option A- International Certifications: The following competencies should be valid (registered programs in CAPCE with an in-person component).
Option B – Participate in a Refresher Course: This option consists of a structured course, previously authorized by IPR and given by n IPR registered training center, for those candidates that do not fulfill the mandatory block in option A*.
Option C – Retomar el examen: In this option the candidate must retake the cognitive and practical exam in an authorized testing site by IPR..
Option D – Medical management and employer: Based on the employer’s work competency and educational guidelines, and with prior authorization from IPR, the medical director may request recertification of his/her staff. *Employer registered with IPR.
